Excellent facilities attract prestigious events, which in turn amplify SIP’s vitality. By introducing international tournaments and nurturing local brands, the park has established a multi-layered event system, turning its sports venues into showcases of its vitality.

In 2023, the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals brought global badminton elites to SIP, with broadcasts reaching over 190 countries and regions. In 2024, the Yangtze River Delta Athletics Diamond Gala (Shanghai/Suzhou) saw a packed stadium at Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre, attracting worldwide attention. Early this year, the 2024-2025 China Badminton Super League Finals was held in SIP, and the 2025 WTA 125 Suzhou Open and 2025 ATP Challenger Tour ― Suzhou Open were held in October.

While global events broaden horizons, local events have gained increasing popularity for their deep roots in local culture. The annual Jinji Lake Half Marathon is recognized by Chinese Athletic Association as a typical example of excellent runner services and experiences, while the Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race attracts over 100,000 participants each year, and the Lake Cup Regatta has won Chinese Yachting Association’s commendation for its outstanding contributions to the development of sailing in China.
Other events like the “2034 Cup” Primary School Students’ Football Games, the China Pump Track Series and China Youth Hockey League have enriched SIP’s sports event portfolio.

These events have helped foster a unique cultural and sports tourism ecosystem, bringing wonderful experiences to the participants while converting the enthusiasm for sports into a driver for local economic growth.
